We have know this place through the social network of 99 Restaurante (our favorite restaurant in Santiago) because they invited Capicúa’s Chef to one of their special “99+1” event. So we thought, if this Chef is liked by 99, his restaurant is worth testing!
The Chef we are talking about is Luis Garay, a former cook in the famous restaurant Boragó. The guy is experienced and interprets the Chilean cuisine in a modern way through sandwiches.
The restaurant looks basic, nothing fancy and you could pass by without noticing it, but still the place is nice with a large terrace and the staff is cool, friendly and explained their sandwiches with patience. My gentleman ordered a croqueta de pollo, a burger with chicken, tomatoes, caramelized onions, hot green peppers and green beans. The bread was good, and the whole filling was attractive and tasteful.
And for me a Salmon ahumado laminado, the salmon was on a bed of grilled tomatoes, eggplant, onion and a creamy black garlic sauce. Surprising but very good.
The fries were prepared perfectly, with two different dippings : beatroot and spicy tomato. The potatoes had a good smell, the frying was right, we were very happy to find some good fries like these in Santiago !
This place is our favorite spot for sandwiches / hamburgers, sure the price is a little bit higher than in others sandwicheries, but it is worth every peso: you have creative recipes, surprisingly tasty and prepared with good quality products, so at the end, the price / performance ratio is good!
